MAZ on the Move...

Puget Sound Radio has learned Maz McFly has once again returned to the Calgary Airwaves. His new address is 95.9 FM, Calgary's 'Lite" where he's been doing PM Drive. At this point in time, we're not sure where Bruce Ritchie is?

Our Facebook friend J.H. tells us:

Bruce is out. Typical treatment for a great jock. Been there too long making too much (as if). The famous "we're going in a different direction" speech I'm guessing. Sad and gutless as usual

Another example of someone's life turned upside down.  The guy's got 30 years in the business.  I think with 3 kids.  Now what does he do?  Another example of "planning" ahead.  You never know when it's gonna come to a screeching halt.

The job for Afternoon Drive on Lite is posted on a back east radio board today, so Maz might be just a fill in or open to apply for the gig but doesn't look like it's his for sure.

Bruce has a better sound than Maz but Maz's style suites the station (music) better.
Best of luck to Bruce and his family.

There always has been and always will be someone who sounds better (cheaper) in corporate, bean-counter-driven radio. Bruce is not only a fine sounding professional, but one of the nice guys in a brutal business run by heartless, untalented sycophants.

Truly a nce guy.  Remember being his PD.  Gave him a beer while he was on the air (just one).  He couldn't beleive it.

Truly one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Helped me, mentored me, at numerous times throughout my career. Amazing family man, beautiful wife and kids. Presided over my husband's (who was also one of his PDs) funeral service with great tact and presence.

I will always call him Don - because that is what his on-air name was in Edmonton - and I will always remember Irene Madoche paging him in the building as "Don-slash-Bruce".

Don/Bruce, and Carol and family, deserve only the best!
