The Super Bowl commercial blackout in Canada has to be a prime example of how lazy the networks are in Canada.  It doesn't take much brains to figure out that most of these products are sold in Canada as well (Audi, Dennys, Snickers, Doritos, Coke, Google) and the CTV sales department probably could have got the advertisers to advertise with the same ads in Canada providing more ad revenue in Canada.

It appears networks like CTV are sitting around sniveling and complaining about the big bad Cable Companies and how they need favours and handouts when the obvious answer is to sell smarter.  All we got in Canada from CTV was the usual lame commercials and promos that don't do the game justice.

Very Canadian and another reason why the networks should have channel substitution taken away along with being told they should start running their operation like a business.

Networks set a rate for a commercial to air on during a certain show. Client buys the airtime. Client airs the ad they want to air. I kinda doubt that CTV would be hurting for revenue from an event like the Super Bowl.

And the ads that CTV aired "don't do the game justice"?  How the heck do commercials improve a football game??????

In this day and age you can watch all those U.S. commercials on YouTube at your leisure.

If anyone's lazy, it's the Canadian advertisers for not creating something special for the game. But they spent the money it costs for the ad time, so it's their choice.
