POWER 97 INTRODUCES SUPERCHARGED NEW LINE-UP OF HOSTS

WINNIPEG, September 1, 2016

Fully charged and ready to rock, the newly relaunched Power 97 is introducing a dynamic line-up of hosts to Winnipeg airwaves beginning Tuesday, September 6. Bringing back some familiar faces and rock music experts, these hosts go beyond sound bites keeping listeners plugged into the latest news and entertainment stories making waves in the city, while sharing their excitement for Winnipeg’s rock.

“We’re continuing to build on the deep rock ‘n’ roll heritage in the community with Winnipeg favourites, Joe Aiello and the return of Fearless Fred Kennedy,” says Tammy ColeProgram Director, Power 97. “By having Winnipeg’s renowned hosts paired with some brand new voices, Power 97 will offer an exciting line-up that listeners can connect with.”

Kicking off the weekday schedule is Power Mornings with iconic Winnipeg rock personality Joe Aiello and new-comer Randy Parker, who will bring their love for all things Winnipeg and rock to mornings airing from 6-10 a.m.

With Power 97’s new approach to modern rock, these high energy hosts are sure to excite and inform listeners with the addition of Meredith Geddes who will hostMeredith, weekdays from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This announcer, blogger, and social media fanatic known for her love of cats and terrible jokes, brings her successful show to middays on Power 97.

Whether he’s featuring a new up-and-coming band, a story about a rock star, or offering an opinion that may stir things up a bit, Craig Stone will make sure you learn something new every time you tune-in. Being a drummer and a guitar player himself, Craig doesn’t just live rock ‘n’ roll, he is rock ‘n’ roll and will bring his passion to Power 97 airwaves each day from 2-6 p.m. Craig joins us from The World Famous CFOX in Vancouver, where his show was number one in the city.

Last but not least, Fearless Fred Kennedy makes his big return to Power 97. During his stint in Winnipeg, he was electrocuted, arrested, rolled down the steps of the legislature and even dressed up as Elvis peppered with doughnuts, all for the sake of Power 97. He now comes back to airwaves sharing his deep love of comic books, Star Wars, and Assiniboine Park attractions weekdays from 6-10 p.m.

  1. So shadoe is out? Meredith broadcasts from Vancouver but will be on power also instead of fresh FM. Craig stone has moved to Winnipeg to be local on pm drive and morning host at 102.1 The Edge is going to obviously voice track his evening show. I like Fearless Fred but voice tracked may not be as good. Overall it is a good lineup but I wish Shadoe was still there and they went live local all day

  2. Leave it to Corus to be the Clear Channel of the north. Two of the four shows in a big market hosted by DJs in other cities. Pathetic.

  3. @Ken – The out of market voicetracking isn’t unique to Corus. Here’s just a sampling of some of the VT-ing going on right now:

    – Now FM Edmonton morning hosts Crash & Mars VT’s PM Drive on Z99 Regina (Pattison/Rawlco)
    – Rock 102 Saskatoon morning co-host Derek Watson VT’s PM Drive on Jack FM Regina (Rawlco)
    – Z99 Regina morning show co-host Cassity VT’s middays on C95 Saskatoon (Rawlco)
    – Hot 107 Edmonton morning hosts Ryder & Lisa VT’s PM Drive on My 92 Regina (Harvard)
    – X92.9 Calgary PM Drive co-host Seanna Jefferson VT’s evenings on 104.9 The Wolf Regina (Harvard)
    – XL103 Calgary Midday host Buzz Bishop VT’s middays on Capital FM Edmonton (Newcap)
    – Kiss 95.9 Calgary Midday host Sasha Spencer VT’s middays on Kiss 102.3 FM Winnipeg (Rogers)
