Charmaine made the announcement on her Facebook page this afternoon.

“Some big news! It is really with mixed emotion that I announce I am leaving the CBC. I have really enjoyed my time working with some of the best journalists in the country. At the same time, I am super excited to be going back to a place I know well, and love. Starting mid next month, I will be the Assistant News Director at CKNW! I’ll also be reporting again! Grateful for opportunities I have had, the people I have worked with, the lessons I have learned. Excited about this new chapter in my life.”

  1. What does assistant news director actually mean at that station? What about Gord MacDonald? He was news director for a while some years back. Still remember his epic coverage, with Peter Warren, of the TWA 800 crash coverage.

  2. Maybe part of her job description will be working with at least a couple of the newbie female newcasters who seem to trip over their words and commit other verbal miscues.
